Hiper Light Drifter, podríamos catalogarlo como un juego indie de aventuras, en un formato muy extendido últimamente, con juegos como Titan Souls, con el que comparte bastantes similitudes. Este título nace de un Kickstarter con un triunfo rotundo de recaudación, tanto que, con el montante que excedía el "goal" inicial, pudieron contratar más gente y mejorar la idea inicial.

Dentro del cada vez más creciente género de los walking simulator, destacan unos pocos por su calidad, no solo a nivel artístico, sino a nivel argumental, que al fin y al cabo, es el núcleo fundamental del género junto a la exploración.
Este título de los creadores de Dear Esther o la segunda entrega de Amnesia, dan un paso más allá, y a medio camino entre la experiencia como en Dear Esther, la exploración como en A machine for pigs, añaden un argumento intenso, con suspense y un leitmotiv scifi sencillamente perfecto.
No hay mucho que decir sobre el título, tiene una producción impecable y se nota en cada pequeño detalle, las voces en V.O son sencillamente perfectas, el sonido ambiental, el nivel gráfico, todo él apunta grandes maneras
